Puma was founded in 1948 by Rudolf Dassler after he and his brother, Adolf Dassler, disbanded from the Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory. Adolf would go on to create Adidas while Rudolf started Ruda, which would then become Puma. Inspired by the speed, agility, and endurance of the animal, Puma became a sportswear staple with its formstrip logo found across the world. The German brand stepped onto the hardwood in 1973 as the brand signed New York Knicks’ Walt Frazier and became Puma’s face in the NBA. Frazier’s signature shoe, the Puma Clyde” would become a staple on and off the court due to its design and versatility. Puma continues to be a household name in sports and fashion, relaunching its basketball line with Phoenix basketball stars Skylar Diggins-Smith and Deandre Ayton. The brand has also collaborated with Kid Super, Kylie Jenner, Rihanna, Nipsey Hussle’s The Marathon Clothing, and more.
